Automatic storage lockers have been installed at the "Malopolskie Autobusy" MDA central bus station in Krakow.
This is our first project installing storage lockers specifically at a bus station in Poland. In today's world, every detail of a journey matters, since it's the details that shape the overall impression of a trip, and we, MVK MASH, brought an innovative solution to bus stations – automatic luggage storage lockers with an aesthetic look and maximum security, giving passengers a reliable place for their belongings. Having modern automatic lockers raises the service level of a bus station and becomes an important factor when passengers plan their next trips. Storage lockers don't directly affect the station's profit, but that's not counting the rental fee for the cells. Rather, they shape the image of the station, contributing to its development in the long run.
Stages we went through in this project:
- Preliminary analysis and planning — before installing the lockers, our team conducted a thorough study of passenger needs and analyzed the flow of people at the bus station. We identified the key points where the need for luggage storage was highest, and where installing lockers wouldn't create obstacles for passenger movement.
- Design and integration — each locker unit was designed with maximum ergonomics and security in mind. We developed modular blocks that easily adapt to different spaces within the bus station, while allowing for easy expansion of the system in the future. In this project, part of the cells is located slightly off to the side of the main control unit, shown in more detail in photo 2.
- Manufacturing stage — we have many solutions for bus station storage lockers. Building on the preliminary work we did for this project and implementing the solutions into our existing models, manufacturing the equipment took us about 25 days.
- Technical implementation — installation included mounting the steel locker housings, connecting the electronics, and testing the interfaces. Each cell is equipped with its own locking system, which activates after the user pays through a payment terminal supporting payment cards, NFC, a bill acceptor, or a coin acceptor.
- Software and security — after the physical installation of the lockers, we integrated them with our centralized management system, put the equipment on our service dashboard, and also set up an integration that lets the station's security team monitor the status of each cell in real time.
- Testing and optimization — before the official launch, a series of tests were carried out to make sure the systems worked reliably. This included simulating various usage scenarios, checking the durability of the locking mechanisms, and testing software performance under heavy load.
- Staff training and support — to ensure flawless operation of the system, we ran a series of training sessions for the bus station staff so they could assist passengers when needed. We also set up round-the-clock support to resolve any issues that come up.
Our Polish partners are happy with this solution and didn't quite expect such a result. It was a pleasure for us to bring a fully Ukrainian product into Polish infrastructure, and it means a lot that our automatic storage lockers have been recognized in Poland. Installing the automatic storage lockers was an important step in raising the level of comfort and security at the bus station.
We're always ready for projects like this and provide a full turnkey service for installing automatic storage lockers.
