Parcel lockers for business
Parcel lockers are becoming a convenient solution for online stores, courier services, retail chains and service companies. Work that used to be done by an employee can now be handled by automated equipment. This reduces business costs and makes parcel pickup more convenient for the customer: the order can be collected without queues, waiting or contact with an operator.
Previously, a parcel was delivered to a branch, the recipient received a notification, then came to the branch, waited in line and confirmed the right to receive the shipment. Electronic parcel lockers significantly simplify this process. The courier places the parcel in a compartment, the customer receives an access code and collects the order at a convenient time.
A parcel locker is an automated terminal with a certain number of compartments. The recipient has a limited time to collect the parcel, and the pickup process takes place without staff involvement. The terminal does not close for lunch, does not create queues and does not require a separate employee to serve each order.
Such solutions can already be found in supermarkets, residential complexes, apartment building entrances, railway stations, shopping centers and near office buildings. For businesses, this is a way to expand the pickup network without opening a full-scale branch or an additional retail point.
Main advantages of parcel lockers:
1. the ability to collect a parcel at any time. Terminals can operate 24/7, unlike regular postal branches;
2. no need to carry documents. It is enough to enter an access code;
3. affordability. Service through a parcel locker is often cheaper than individual courier delivery;
4. the ability to share the code with another person so they can collect the parcel instead of the recipient;
5. speed. Collecting an order takes one or two minutes;
6. no queues. Each customer is assigned a separate compartment, so pickup is fast and does not involve unnecessary waiting.
A parcel locker helps make delivery more private and convenient. The customer does not need to provide extra details at the pickup point, communicate with an operator or wait while an employee searches for the required shipment.
This is why the technology is growing so quickly. If such terminals used to be rare, they are now becoming a familiar part of urban logistics in large cities.
Postamats
Postamat is another name for the same automated terminal used for parcel and order pickup. If you plan to buy parcel lockers for your business, it is important to understand what the equipment consists of and what functions it can offer.
MVK MASH manufactures compartments with strong doors resistant to break-ins. The metal thickness is at least 1 mm. The equipment can be supplemented with video surveillance and alarm systems. For customer convenience, the terminals are equipped with 17-inch touchscreens and stations for charging mobile devices.
A parcel locker can also function as a vending machine. In this configuration, it is equipped with a banknote acceptor and a bank card payment system, allowing the equipment to be used not only for order pickup, but also for automated product sales.
MVK MASH offers parcel lockers for indoor and outdoor installation. The outdoor version can include control unit heating, a galvanized body and thicker metal. For autonomous operation, the terminal can be supplemented with solar panels and an uninterruptible power supply.
Compartment modifications for food storage are also available. These solutions can be equipped with heating and cooling systems, as well as bactericidal lamps for additional sanitary treatment of the internal space.
How parcel lockers work
The operating principle of a parcel locker is simple. The customer receives a notification that the parcel has been delivered, along with information about the pickup location. After that, the customer comes to the terminal, enters the access code or uses another identification method and collects the shipment from the required compartment.
Parcel security is ensured by a strong metal body, vandal-resistant locks, data encryption and additional access methods, including Face ID or fingerprint access. This helps protect shipments and makes the pickup process more reliable.
To order a parcel locker, the customer submits a request, after which a company manager contacts them. The specialist helps choose the configuration, agree on technical requirements and prepare the order. Terminal production takes 25-45 days, after which the equipment is delivered to the customer. The average delivery time is around 10 days.
Upon request, the company can provide a specialist for installation and commissioning work. Production is organized in Ukraine. The company also has a European representative office in Madrid, a representative office in Rome and a representative office in Krakow.
MVK MASH offers parcel lockers at an affordable price thanks to its own software and control over key production stages. This makes it possible to flexibly select the configuration for specific business tasks and influence the final cost of the equipment.
